Dr. Alethea Favicon

Welcome!

If you’re seeking a path to higher vitality and a deeper connection with your body and mind, you’re in the right place. I am honored to walk alongside amazing patients everyday & understand that it’s brave work to ask for more, to seek higher vitality and it’s incredibly vulnerable to open your heart up to something you really want.

I could share many stories about how I was raised holistically, taking vitamins and seeing our chiropractor for gentle body work through my childhood and experiencing the power of natural healing. I graduated as the third Doctor of Chiropractic in my immediate family, with additional Acupuncture and Clinical Nutrition Specialties. With over 25 years of clinical experience, I’ve enjoyed three private practices at this point in my life with varying focus which have each contributed to my comprehensive approach to healing. I’ve achieved an academic pinnacle in acquiring a prestigious Diplomate degree in Acupuncture as well as Mind-Body specialties which have deepened my understanding and ability to support others on their wellness journey.

I call my current practice my third love, because it’s said, “that you never see your third love coming”! I say this because if you would have told me years ago that I would be integrating somatic work into my practice I would have repelled the thought. I was wound a tad tightly. I didn’t realize it of course. I thought I was goal oriented with a plan! When I graduated, only 16% of my profession was female and under half were in their own private practice. I was in the 8%. It truly was a man’s world, and I had to learn how to play in it. Have you ever felt like you just fell into a way of being and certain roles, like it just kind of happened to you?

My journey from a tightly wound, goal-oriented individual to a specialist in somatic work and mind-body medicine was unexpected but absolutely transformative. I was at a point in my life that I was really struggling when this shifted for me. I had been to several counselors but still felt like I was on the inside of a huge ball holding on SO TIGHTLY to thick ropes that were keeping everything in place for everyone else. If I were to let go or let down even for a moment, the ball would fall apart. Maybe you can relate to this feeling. Like many, I found myself trapped in a survival state, juggling roles and responsibilities. It was through embracing vulnerability and seeking new experiences, that I began to heal and grow.

One day before a counseling session, I went to a local yoga studio which was a first for me. As I moved from position to position following my breath in and out, tears streamed. Are people looking? No one noticed. Or if they did, they didn’t care. My tears would come in unpredictable waves as I moved through the asanas.

After class, (a little confused about my body’s behavior) I went to my counseling session. It was obvious how I was able to connect with my desires more, articulate my thoughts, feel where the pain was held in a way that I hadn’t before. The following week I went to yoga and tears flowed again. Emotions that I had been trying to suppress were trickling out of me. Again after class, I was able to see things in counseling that were new and insightful to me.

I kept this routine and I learned that my body was storing years of resentment and hurt. It was keeping me in what felt like survival. I was tired. I would get inflamed easily if I wasn’t very careful with my food choices. I had way too many headaches. But I saw what happened when I didn’t hold it all together for everyone and I had so much fear of how catastrophic things would fall apart if I didn’t keep this role up. It took years to even consider releasing my hold of the ropes.

Here’s the thing. I did let go.

I moved through it.

I am on the other side of survival. There is peace, so much more energy, joy, love, clear thinking and a body that isn’t always looking for the next shoe to drop or thing to look out for.

But the process for me was slow & arduous. I cried in every yoga class for a full year! I’ve learned along the way how to make this easier, my journey was one of many years of pain to move from survival to thrival, but you don’t have to follow that same path. Imagine moving through life with ease, your body and mind in harmony. This is the journey I offer — one of discovery, healing, and empowerment.

I do this using a masterful synergy of personalized functional medicine combined with relaxing somatic work. This blend allows you to have to use far less supplements and lifestyle changes than typical functional medicine approaches. It’s efficient. It gets incredible results. And we don’t have to fight your body. There really can be ease as you make incredible transformations both in your health and life.

If you’re ready to explore a path to wellness that honors your unique story and needs, I invite you to connect with me. Together, we can unlock the vitality and peace you seek.
